Contemporary Dance

For adults 16 years plus

Contemporary Beginners/Improvers 

Refreshing and invigorating sessions with emphasis on ease and effectiveness of movement. Build flexibility and strength through exercises and choreographed sequences.

Contemporary Intermediate

Similar to the beginners/improvers class, but for people with a good level of experience of contemporary dance, wanting to improve and develop their technique and skills

Contemporary Dance Advanced/ Professional   NEW!

A fast paced, challenging contemporary technique class for advanced students, teachers, and professionals. This class is Cunningham-based and focuses on alignment and physicality with the aim of improving movement potential and the opportunity to move through space.

Professional Contemporary Class

For dancers, dance artists and practitioners with a minimum of 3 years professional training

A challenging contemporary technique classes for regional dancers, dance artists and practitioners. Classes are led by class members and guest artists. For more information on guest teachers and rota winter/ spring 2010 click here

 

Contemporary Dance for over 50s

For adults 50 years plus

Contemporary sessions   

Energizing sessions with an emphasis on mobilising the body, improving fitness and developing flexibility. Relaxed, supportive and invigorating.

Mosaic - Over 50's Creative Group

A chance to build skills and to explore creativity, choreography and improvisation. (Only available to those attending Contemporary session)

Salsacise   NEW!

 


For adults 16 years plus

Salsacise is a highly motivational dance class that can burn more then 500 calories in an hour. it is fantastic fun with great latino music and grooves that suits any ability ,dance yourself fit in style!

Ballet Beginners

Graceful movement, strengthening exercises and the chance to develop your co-ordination and alignment. Gentle pace - suitable for beginners and those wishing to work more slowly and methodically.

Ballet I
mprovers 

Graceful movement, strengthening exercises and the chance to improve your co-ordination and alignment. Medium pace - for returners and people with some experience, wishing to progress and ready for a bit more of a challenge.

Graceful movement, strengthening technique and develop movement quality. Fast pace - for people with good experience and wanting to work on skills and technique.

Pilates

For adults 16 years plus

Gentle focused exercise that tones, stretches and conditions. Relaxing sessions that will increase your mobility and co-ordination, and strengthen your back and abdominal muscles. Nicky Gibbs qualified through the Pilates Institute.

Everyone is welcome to join this open group for adults with learning difficulties.  The chance to explore different ideas and themes and create new dances. Weekly sessions and Saturday workshops.

For 17 years plus     

This beginners class is for all adults, regardles of dancing background and ability. The sessions have a relaxed and friendly feel and will give you the chance to develop new skills through specially devised routines that are energetic and uplifting! You can work at your own pace and have fun whilst keeping fit.

Adult Street Dance

For 17 years plus   

An open class based on a high energy, eclectic fusion of varied dance styles, focusing primarily on Street and Pop Dance. The sessions work on building personal confidence and performance skills, whilst improving movement retainment, as routines learnt will be contiually revised and expanded. All skill levels are welcome!

Adult Hip Hop Improvers/ Intermediate

For 17 years plus    

Designed for the more accomplished dancer and for those with previous experience in the hip-hop style. This slightly quicker paced class is up-beat, funky and hard hitting. It will give you the opportunity to develop your existing skills as well as learning new ones. Explore a new way of moving by experiencing Stephen’s own creative blend of street, commercial, hip-hop and electro dance, all set to a fantastic soundtrack of songs that are sure to keep you motivated and inspired.
